The kinetic sculpture made of beech wood embodies a harmonious fusion of nature and technology. Its mechanical shaft, which is moved by a series of power transmissions, creates a graceful, flowing movement. The sculpture is intended to emphasize the vitality of wood and nature, while at the same time the precise mechanics convey an impression of order and precision. In this way, it demonstrates that there is order and sequence even in the moving environment and in the beauty of nature. Through the interplay of organic forms, dynamic movements and mechanical structure, Mechanical Wave invites viewers to blur the boundaries between nature and technology, transporting them into a world of movement and aesthetics.
This sculpture was realized as a partner project with Karl Herrmann. After various preliminary considerations, sketches, models and concepts, the decision was made to build the wave mainly from beech wood and to drive it by actively using their own physical strength in the form of a crank. This was also intended to symbolize man's intervention in nature.
